What you need to know before you take PLENVU®

Taking other medicines?
Any medicines taken orally (by mouth) may not be absorbed properly and not have their desired effect if taken within 1 hour of taking PLENVU®. Speak to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines (e.g. oral contraceptives).
Food considerations when taking PLENVU®
After you start taking your PLENVU® doses, you should not eat until after your colonoscopy. However, it is important to drink clear fluids as directed and stay hydrated throughout the preparation.
Depending on the dosing schedule your healthcare professional has suggested, you will be asked to have a light breakfast and lunch, or breakfast, lunch and dinner ahead of taking your first dose of PLENVU®.
What can I eat (light low-fibre foods)?
Ideas for light meals include:
- Light breakfast: white bread, eggs, cheese or plain biscuits
- Light lunch: white pasta/rice, fish or poultry with peeled potatoes
- Light dinner: clear soup or a yogurt

Boiled or mashed potatoes
Eggs
Well-cooked lean beef, lamb or pork

What shouldn’t I eat?
High-fibre breakfast cereals
Fruit, e.g. orange, grapefruit, strawberries, grapes

Pulses or lentils
Brown rice
Allergies
Do not take PLENVU® if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substances or any of the
other ingredients of PLENVU®. See the Patient Information Leaflet for more information.
Staying hydrated with clear fluids
It is important to drink plenty of clear fluids before, during and after taking PLENVU® to stay hydrated. It is best to choose clear fluids with a flavour that you like.
Stop drinking 2 hours before your colonoscopy if you are having a general anaesthetic, or 1 hour before if you are not having a general anaesthetic.
